 | The Under Secretariat for Treasury General Directorate (GDFI) has set up www.investinturkey.gov.tr offering a range of information from starting a business to all aspects of everyday life in Turkey. |
The site has been set up to eradicate false accounts of how business is done in Turkey. Once examined, you will find that investing, establishing a business and other legal procedures, are not as difficult to follow as they are exaggerated to be.
Current and detailed information on the investment environment in Turkey can be obtained from the website. Important information for foreigners who have settled or who would like to settle in Turkey is also available.
The objective of the General Directorate for Foreign Investment was to prepare the site to highlight foreign direct investments and, secondly, to guide and assist foreign investors in exploring investment opportunities in Turkey. Next, the GDFI wanted to provide both potential and invested foreign investors current information on the business climate, and lastly, process foreign investors' applications for investment incentives and issue incentive certificates for eligible projects.
Some of the titles that can be found on the website include Business Climate; Means of Establishing Business in Turkey; and Investment Areas and Purchasing Immovable Property for Foreign Individuals.
Under the heading of ‘Living in Turkey’, there is information on housing, eating out, transportation, education, health, leisure and entertainment, religion and work permits. Under the heading of ‘Turkey by Region’, extensive facts can be obtained on population, annual population growth rate, education, airlines, railways, airports, human resources of each province, and the country’s industry.
Another important heading is ‘Investment Advisory Council’. This platform has been formed by the cooperation of the Turkish Government, the World Bank, and the participation of the executives of the world’s leading multi-national companies. The objective of the Council is to reduce the barriers facing investments and to promote investment in Turkey. International organizations, multi-national companies, and Turkish business associations also take part in the meetings.
And you can also get answers to your questions via e-mail. The most frequently asked questions on the website are: Whether there are legal legislations on direct foreign investments? Whether the employment of foreigners is possible? What the legal legislations are considering labour force and the procedures to be followed to establish a business?
